Welcome to your billing and coding weekly solutions by H.J. Ross Company where getting your bills paid is what we do best!

Are you aware of the No Surprise Act1 effective January 1, 2022?

The No Surprise Act1 (NSA) protects uninsured or self-pay individuals from any unexpectedly high medical bills.

The NSA requires healthcare providers and facilities give uninsured or self-pay individuals an estimate of the cost of their health care before agreeing to get the item or service.

Who does the No Surprise Act1 effect?

Patients with no health insurance (cash patients).

Patients with health insurance who receive an item or service not covered by their plan or coverage.

Patients with health insurance who choose not use their plan or coverage to pay for a portion or all of the costs for the item or service.

As a chiropractic provider your duty is to:

Provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for items and services to patient ($400 threshold).

Provide a clear estimate of charges and the likely out of pocket cost to the patient.
