As occurs every October 1 there are additions and deletions to the ICD10 code set that is effective on October 1, 2020. Though these are 2021 codes the effective date is October 1 of the prior year.
The most likely one that can affect your day to day coding is a new code for unspecified headache. There are also updates however to arthropathy/arthritis to the TMJ, osteochondrosis, and contusion/abrasion of the chest wall. There are more that may possibly affect your coding for neuromusculoskeletal codes listed below.
This list compromises the codes most likely to affect chiropractic claims. As always The HJ Ross Digital Coding allows you to search for updates via a keyword search but also by using â10-1-2020â as a search that corresponds to the effective date of the new code.
Please note any care on or after October 1, 2020, must use the updated code or the claim will be denied for improper or invalid code.
